An Introduction to what we can do...

Dr. Naiken had his first meet-up session with his group from HB Holistic.

Attached are some photos from the meeting and here now in a nutshell his presentation to the group:

Apparently, the word Dharna does not exist in the English language. So the word meditation is used in its place, making meditation not the right word for its meaning.

The meaning of meditation means to: think/ponder/reflect... and to do that one needs to use the mind to either concentrate or contemplate... two attributes that meditation is not. Both concentration and contemplation needs an object, either in the physical world or mental world. To concentrate [something that a scientist does very well s/he will focus all their attention on a single point going deeper to its source to figure out a solution. To contemplate [something that is more associated to a philosopher] s/he will need again either an internal or external object to contemplate on... a philosopher will use concentration as a tool to contemplate on his object on a wider/broader field.

Dharna [or true meditation] is neither concentration nor contemplation... it is 'NOTHINGNESS'

Meditation is in the 'ZONE' it is like a mirror... a mirror can reflect any object you put in front of it but a mirror cannot reflect its own self... like wise with your 'soul' it can concentrate and contemplate upon any object [physical or mental] but it cannot concentrate or contemplate upon itself. it can only 'BE' the soul!

As concentration is to scientist and contemplation is to philosophers so is Religion and Spiritualism were supposedly to be the medium to Dharna... but even they have failed because they introduced the 'mediator' limiting the 'being' to directly connect to 'God' or 'Truth'

Remember the moment you move away from the centre of your being through:

- concentration
- contemplation
- action

on all levels of body and mind, that is not meditation. True meditation is simply doing nothing with the body or mind!

Next we touched on 3 important breathing exercises:

1) Breath of fire
2) Thought/Breath Projection
3) Un-Thwarted Breath Release & Positive Breath Energisation

The meeting ended with a positive meditation sitting of 'nothingness'

I would like to thank all the members who attended the meeting today for your active participation which was very much appreciated.
